Good afternoon, everyone. I’m Sun Jiayi from Class One, Senior One.

Today I feel greatly honoured to speak here, reporting what I’ve done and how I feel about the course exchange on literature and drama between Zhenhua andSandonHigh School.

Last term I took theatrical performance as an optional course, where I took part in many other interesting activities as well as performing on stage.

And I was very lucky to get the opportunity to act as Shylock in the play The Merchant of Venice by recommending myself. It was a cross-gender performance, which was no easy job for me. I made great efforts to figure out the feelings and facial expressions of Shylock. I hope my efforts and performance will receive recognition from you.

This week, from May 23rd to 27th, is the British Week in our school, and we get together with our honored guests who came all the way fromEnglandfor a week’s exchange. We’ve had various activities together, among which the most unforgettable one to me was learning to sing Yue Opera with the English students. Though we used different languages, we could sing in the same tune. I was so pleased to see that our English guests showed a great interest in our traditional dramas. When visiting theShanghaiMuseum, I volunteered to be a guide, trying my best to help our friends to feel the charm of the Chinese traditional culture and the friendship from us Zhenhua students.

A years’ expectations and preparations, five days’ exchange experiences, all these have deeply impressed in my mind, becoming my sweet memories. Though the British Week this year has come to an end, I firmly believe our cooperation and exchange will never stop, nor will our research on the traditional cultures of both the countries. Let’s work together to put up a bridge of friendship and step into a brighter future.

Thank you very much!
